What’s in Your Water?
Let's talk about what's flowing from your taps right now. Dallas water meets federal safety standards, but “safe” and “ideal” aren't the same thing. Water quality specialists have identified 38 contaminants in Dallas water, with 17 exceeding health-based guidelines set by independent researchers.
Here's what that means for you:
PFAS (“forever chemicals”) have been found at concerning levels. These synthetic compounds are linked to serious long-term health concerns and require specialized filtration to remove. Hard water minerals create scale buildup in your pipes and appliances while leaving your skin dry and your fixtures spotty. Combined with chlorine and disinfection byproducts, you're dealing with water that can damage your plumbing and appliances and affect how you feel. Dallas water also contains trace amounts of nitrates, lead, arsenic, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from urban runoff; these are contaminants that standard water treatment doesn't always fully address. The bottom line? Your water is technically safe to drink. But when you see what's actually in it, “safe” starts feeling like a low bar. Want the full story?
